About CredLedger
The Problem: Local Search is Broken and Bought
If you need to hire a plumber, an electrician, or a mechanic, you usually turn to the big names in local search. But the platforms we used to trust have turned into advertising monopolies.
You know the routine: you fill out a 10-step quiz just to see a basic list, and within three minutes, your phone is ringing off the hook with spam calls from six different companies. The spots at the top of those giant directory grids aren’t occupied by the best local operators — they are occupied by the companies with the biggest advertising budgets.
When placement is for sale, the consumer loses. I got tired of watching the status quo sell out its integrity to the highest bidder.
Our Mission: Unbuyable Local Rankings
I built CredLedger to fix a broken system. As a 20-year technology veteran and the founder of Blackfish Development—a local software engineering studio I’ve run right here in the Pittsburgh region for over 15 years—I don’t believe reputation data should be hidden behind aggressive sales funnels or manipulated by deep corporate pockets.
My core philosophy is simple: Placement on this data ledger can never be bought.
If a contractor is ranked #1 in your town on CredLedger, it’s because an objective algorithm analyzed their public licensing history, verified credentials, and consumer metrics, and determined they earned it.
Because CredLedger is built, hosted, and maintained entirely under the Blackfish umbrella, it doesn’t answer to venture capitalists, corporate boards, or outside investors. It answers to the data.
How We Keep It Honest
-
No Pay-to-Play Rankings: Contractors cannot pay a single dollar to change their score, delete a bad metric, or push a competitor down the page.
-
Zero Data Harvesting: Data isn’t hidden behind forced sign-up walls, and your phone number or email will never be bundled up and sold to a barrage of telemarketers.
-
Transparent Sponsorships: To keep the lights on and the data servers humming, I do offer clearly labeled, flat-rate category advertisements. But buying an ad slot sits above the data grid as a billboard — it does not alter or touch the mathematical scoring system.
Built for the Community
CredLedger is independent, self-funded, and engineered to serve both homeowners looking for honest data and world-class local business owners who deserve to be recognized for their hard work.
